a funny thing happened on the way to the forum

aimed in the direction of the local art house for a showing of moonrise kingdom,* (great film. if you have not seen it, do. it's sweet and brilliant, every frame perfectly composed, richly detailed in every way) a friend and i passed what looked like a garage sale. minding the fact that it was dinner time monday, there was no sign stating such and there were only five items in the driveway-one of which was this winsome little settee, we drove by and then we drove by again...we were unsure but undaunted. having had a clear sighted vision of spending the next three heated months enjoying lazy gin and tonics and spirited conversations while sitting on this summer time throwback, and just knowing that it belonged to my house, we finally stopped on the third run-by. it was not a garage sale, it was not a sale of any sort, it was just a married couple cleaning house and minding their business. a few kindly passed words and $60 later it was mine. it was a cheeky but necessary play. i love this addition to the porch and i love the story behind it. the most treasured of notions adorning my digs are reminders of people or times in my life and tell a good tale. this will be no exception, procured in a manner that blithely coined the phrase 'forced commerce,' this aptly named love seat is beginning it's new life with me on good and storied feet.
*hey there! for now and future reference, did you know if you roll your arrow over the words in this color and click, they'll take you to super cool links and stuff!
